Tamilnadu Fly Ash Bricks and Blocks Manufacturers Association (TNFABBMA) was formed in 2006 at Coimbatore with the support of Mr. M. Gunasekar, Proprietor, Engineers Enterprises, Coimbatore with 14 members. The Association has Mr. D.S. Saravanan as its Founder President and its registered office is at No.33, Acharappan Street, Chennai - 600 001. The Association was registered at the Chennai registrar office (Regn. No. 212/2006). For administrative convenience, we operate in three zones namely Chennai, Tuticorin, and Mettur. Around 300 manufacturers are registered as members of this association.
Fly ash bricks are a type of building material that is manufactured using fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion in thermal power plants. Fly ash is the fine, powdery residue that is carried away by the flue gases during the combustion process. Instead of being disposed of as waste, fly ash can be recycled and used as a raw material in the production of construction materials, such as bricks.
Fal-G Technology is implemented in the manufacturing of Fly Ash Bricks. Fal-G Technology was invented by Dr. N. Bhanumathidas and N. Kalidas in 1990 where they have promoted a scientific NGO outfit called the Institute for Solid Waste Research & Ecological Balance (INSWAREB), to catalyze the proliferation of the fly ash brick industry. Over 500 MSMEs have been manufacturing Fal-G Bricks across Tamilnadu, lifting fly ash from the Thermal Power Stations in Chennai, Mettur, and Tuticorin.
The Association conducted its 18th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) on the 1st and 2nd of November 2023 at The Leaf Munnar Resorts, Munnar, Kerala. 223 members across the state participated in the AGM and various factors affecting the production of Fly Ash Bricks, directly or indirectly, were discussed. New office bearers were elected in the meeting.
